The Quiet Charm of the Capital

Guatemala City offers a wide array of activities to relax and have a good time without travelling far away.
Of old, the city only comprised what is nowadays known as el Centro Historico, mainly zone 1, full of old houses, cafes and bohemian bars, with a slightly ruined touch that is quite charming. In the sixties, the financial heart of the city moved to the south, where nowadays there`s a strong real state development in progress.
As a part of the city´s old quarter´s recovery process, its main artery, la Sexta Avenida, has been restored, and is now a pleasant pedestrian way, with sculptures and other art pieces, trees and a nice atmosphere.
You can also visit in this area the National Palace of Culture and the Metropolitan Cathedral, located in front and one side of the city´s main´s square.
The old post office building is now a municipal cultural center well worth visiting.
