The Magic of Black Sands

Puerto de San Jose is the favorite destination of local internal tourists. It has a wide range of hotels, restaurants and service places, and it has the great advantage of being easily reached, just one hour away from the city.
Three hours away from the city, the beaches at Monterrico provide a more exclusive stay. There´s a biotope for the conservation of sea turtles in town, and visitors are allowed to release newborn turtles once a year. Although swimming is possible in here, caution is recommended, since undertow, the terrible alfaque, as it´s  called here is constant and unpredictable.
Recently, the beaches of Sipacate host a thriving surfing community. Here, four hours away from the city, are the best waves of the country´s pacific coast, awaiting those that love to ride the sea on a board.
Six to seven hours away from the city, in San Marcos is Manchón Guamuchal, the largest mangrove forest in Central America. It offers an unforgettable experience of contact with nature, form the town of Tilapita. Little visited beaches and fishermen that  offer boat torus into the depths of the mangrove await travelers.
Finally, for those who love fishing, the Pacific Coast is excellent for practicing this sport in high seas. The marlin is the most prized species for fishermen going in to the sea.
